Our Case Studies illustrate how cladding could totally modernise and enhance your premises

Composite Panels - A new roof outside and a new roof inside. This provides a one sheet installation direct to the structure incorporating an insulating foam core manufactured from rigid closed cell polyisocyanurate (PIR) for maximum thermal efficiency and is LPC & FM insurer approved with a plastisol coated outer steel weather sheet and an internal bright white faced steel liner panel.

Overcladding

Many buildings require substantial renovation during their lifetime.

The cladding may fail or deteriorate to such an extent that extensive replacement or renewal is needed.

Overcladding is the renovation of a facade by the addition of new skin over the original external fabric

Overcladding has been used extensively on many buildings in the UK and Europe, most often in industrial and commercial premises. Many of these, 25-30 years old, suffer from a combination of poor thermal performance and physical performance, for example, spalling brickwork, poor insulation and a dated appearance.

The cost of overcladding can in many instances be offset by savings such as improved insulation and extended life.

Where an industrial unit is in a poor state of repair, looking tired, suffering from damp and moisture penetration a cost effective solution is to overclad the existing building envelope with profiled colour coated steel. This can be further enhanced for little or no extra cost by incorporating contrasting flashings, guttering and closures. Insulation can also be incorporated into these works to give the client future cost benefits in energy reduction.

For an even more modern look the incorporation of insulated flat panel will offer even further fabric enhancement.

Advanced Roofing Services are highly specialised in this field and are able to offer our clients an endless combination of materials, profiles, finishes and colours to give the building a totally unique and individual look.

Given the increasing complexity of buildings envelopes, wide range of available materials and improving performance standards, a new discipline of facade engineering is emerging that treats the facade with the same care as services and structure.

Client benefits in Overcladding:

  • Improve the facilities to such an extent that it could possibly increase the value of the client's asset
  • Minimum disruption to the occupiers as little if any of the existing facades need to be removed
  • Minimal security risk during the works as the building is not left exposed
  • Savings due to improved insulation
  • Increase in the effective life span of the building
  • Increased income by improving the appearance and overall amenity value of the building
  • More cost effective than demolition and rebuild
  • A substantial reduction in future maintenance costs by a reduction in condensation risk, thermal bridging and deterioration of the existing fabric

Most systems are designed to include the layers:

  • External weathering skin
  • Support structure
  • Insulation layer

A subframe structure, comprising usually of galvanised steel is fixed to the existing structure or facade. There has to be sufficient adjustment in the system to allow the skin to be installed to an accurate line and level. A separate layer of insulation is then attached to the original facade and finally the external weathering screen is attached to the subframe. Windows frames and door frames are weathered by the insertion of prefabricated closure flashings providing a suitable receiver for a replacement window.

We at Advanced Roofing Services fully understand that our overcladding systems are not just about rails, panels and flashings but also about a totally integrated solution to the problems associated with each individual project. Our designs ensure that each of our systems is tailor-made to suit each application.

Details are undertaken at all junctions of the system with the structure. Various door and window reveal flashings are accommodated into the design solution to produce the package the client requires.

The installation is undertaken by our operatives who compliment the system with their professionalism and attention to detail.

On every project Advanced Roofing Services appoint a Contract Manager whose function is to ensure that all materials are scheduled and delivered in accordance with the agreed construction programme. Materials for the framework are scheduled and ordered specifically to size. Panels are cut, drilled and annotated to indicate their position in the finished construction. Prior to delivery cognizance is taken of varying site and detail requirements which can only come to light as the project progresses and variations are automatically accommodated. This requires close liaison between our site staff, the client and our Contract Manager who will visit site as often as required to ensure all elements of the systems are performing and functioning correctly.

All this is part of our philosophy and comes with every project no matter how small or large.

Advanced Roofing Services provide a service dedicated to providing the right solution at the right price to the benefit of the client and all those associated with the project.
